A solitary mushroom rises from a bed of dry pine needles and fallen leaves. Its cap is pale, almost white, with faint dark speckles and a few slender twigs resting atop. The stem is slender and unadorned, anchoring the cap gently into the earth. Surrounding it, the forest floor is a mosaic of browns and ochres — curled needles, brittle twigs, and crumbled leaf fragments. The light is soft, diffused, as if filtered through a canopy overhead. No movement, no urgency — just quiet presence. The scene holds stillness, a moment suspended in the understory, where decay and growth coexist.
